Last Friday 2 December, the music industry came together under soaring 35C temperatures for Musica Copa, the 4th annual 5-a-side football fundraiser, who this year raised $10,000 for charity. With over 400 players and spectators in attendance the winners trophy was taken out by Lucky Entertainment who were awarded $7000 for their charity Reach Foundation. Runners up, Universal Music were awarded $3000 for their charity Musicians Making a Difference (MMAD).
Thanks to team registrations, sponsorship, bar proceeds and generous door donations this year’s Musica Copa has pushed the overall total beyond $40,000 since the event began in 2013.
The star names turned out in force once again with members of Flight Facilities, The Delta Riggs, Set Mo and I Know Leopard alongside the likes of What So Not, Montaigne, Nina Las Vegas, Swick, Montaigne, Danny Clayton, Motorik Vibe Council, Third Floor and Klue. Many other influential music business owners, movers and shakers were spotted both on the field and off it, including Mirik Milan, the nightlife major of Amsterdam, who was in Australia for the Electronic Music Conference.
Long-standing local community station FBi Radio returned to curate the day’s music (powered by DJ Warehouse) featuring FBi Click guest selectors Luen, Body Promise, Never Slept, Honey, Bare Necessities, GIRLIRL, Katia, Soft Hands, Sandro Dallarmi, Lauren Hansom and Sports.
