St.George Bank confirmed the renewal of its principal sponsorship of Sydney’s iconic OpenAir Cinema for a further five year term.

St.George Bank first assumed the principal sponsorship of OpenAir Cinema in 2003. Since then, the event has flourished, becoming a much loved and highly sought after experience of summer in Sydney.  

Last summer more than 50,000 tickets were sold in the first days of pre-sales, and on average 1830 guests attended each of the 38 screening nights.

Featuring a massive three story high screen located in Sydney Harbour before a backdrop that spans the Sydney Harbour Bridge, Opera House, city skyline and Royal Botanic Garden, OpenAir Cinema is a one-of-a-kind, only-in-Sydney experience.  A 2000 seat grandstand, 36 speaker surround sound and a program including many premiere and preview screenings complete a sublime cinema experience. More than 1000 patrons arrive at the event hours before screenings to enjoy the Event’s harbourside bar and restaurant operated by leading Sydney caterers.

The 2017 season of St.George OpenAir Cinema will open on 7 January and run through to 17 February. The film program to be launched on 5 December will include more than a dozen premiere and preview screenings. To add to the flavour of past seasons, a hugely exciting catering appointment will be announced in coming weeks. Tickets for the 2017 season go on-sale on 12 December, with St.George customers receiving a special pre-sale window from 9 December.
