Canberra Dance Development Centre from Spence, ACT were crowned winners of the Jury Vote in the outstanding 2016 McDonald’s Sydney Eisteddfod Dance of Champions. Their performance entitled Bright Shadows was the perfect mix of dynamic, entertaining and technical, standing out that little bit extra amongst a sea of tough competitors.
Pymble Ladies’ College won the People’s Choice Award. Owning the stage with their performance to Sia’s Chandelier, they enthralled the entire audience, with their impeccable dancing and exquisite use of balloons.
Both groups fully deserved the cheers and applause they received from the audience as well as the lavish prize of $5,000 each.
The runner-up for the Jury Vote was Dance102 Performing Arts Studio with their contemporary routine Trapped and for the People’s Choice Award, Dance Unlimited from Mudgee took out Second Prize with their piece Delusions of the Widower. Both competitors received $3,000 for their performances which equally displayed a great depth of emotion and were extraordinary in their own right.
