“Fascinator’s magical melodies take you to some pretty faraway places.”
– THE MUSIC
Wrapping up his Visions and King Street Crawl live appearances over the weekend and set to showcase at BIGSOUND this week, New York-based, Australian-bred eccentric Fascinator returns with his new single, ‘Skin Within,’ on Spinning Top Records. Continuing to push limits with his genre-bending sounds, the track is the first taste of new music since releasing his highly acclaimed debut album, Man earlier this year.
Written and recorded in a dark hole in Bushwick, Brooklyn after the demise of a relationship, the track’s throbbing riff, triumphant synth lines and mantra-esque lyrics combine in a “Kraftwerk in Manchester party song about being so messed up that all layers of pretence fall away to reveal the pure truth in it all.”
Fascinator called on Andrew Szekeres (Midnight Juggernauts) for additional production and mixing, with live drums provided by Loren ‘Ted’ Humphrey (NAF, Cults, The Last Shadow Puppets.)
His debut LP, Man was co-produced by Darren Seltmann (The Avalanches,) and includes the much talked about ‘Time To Go,’ ‘Dead Of The Night’ and ‘The Traveller.’ Over the past year, Fascinator has opened for Tame Impala at two sold-out shows at Los Angeles’ Hollywood Forever Cemetery, performed at the infamous Sydney and Melbourne Laneway Festival after parties, joined the likes of Santigold and Kali Uchis at Full Moon Festival in NYC and delivered vivacious sets across across a number of NY and LA venues. Catch him as he closes out the Alehouse stage at Woolly Mammoth this Thursday at BIGSOUND.
