Dance Australia announced that the Imperial Russian Ballet touring from September – November this year will use local children for their production of ‘The Nutcracker’. They will not be conducting auditions for individual children but will be working with one local ballet school in each area that they are performing. It will be up to the individual schools to perform their own auditions. All schools have been contacted regarding the procedure. Specialised tuition for the successful children will be provided by a Russian dance teacher who will fly out from Moscow for six weeks prior to the performances.

In addition to performing on stage with this world famous company the successful dancers will attend a master class on the afternoon of each performance and dine with the Imperial Russian Ballet Company cast.

According to Dance Australia the company will be touring Newcastle, Gold Coast, Caloundra, Maryborough, Rockhampton, Mackay, Charters Towers, Townsville, Port Macquarie, Wollongong, Hobart, Launceston, Devenport, Albury, Frankston, Adelaide, Melbourne, Sydney, Ipswich and Toowoomba.
